Tickets

The Dubai Tram tickets are the same that are available for the Dubai Metro. The price that you pay depends on how many zones you travel through. However, all of the tram stations in phase one are in the same zone (zone 2) so if you just make one journey on the tram, however far, you will only be charged 3 dirhams (if you are using a silver Nol card).

You can use your Nol card to pay for Dubai Tram tickets and other methods of public transport in Dubai like the bus and the Metro.

Children under 5 travel for free, otherwise they need to buy a Nol card and pay the fares below.

If you don’t have a Nol card you can get hold of one at any of the tram or Metro stations, bus stations or RTA offices and also at many other locations including supermarkets. Nol card is the only way to pay for travel.

There aren’t ticket offices at the tram stations, just ticket machines which tend to require the correct change if you are using cash. There are people to help at the tram stations though.

There are ticket machines at each of the stations and someone to help with purchases.

The price that you pay covers travel on the tram, metro and bus so you can travel on all of these and it just depends on how many zones you travel through.

Dubai Tram TicketsValidate Your Nol Card

You must remember to validate your Nol card by tapping it on one of the ticket readers. You need to tap in both on the way in and the way out – otherwise you will be charged the maximum price for a trip or you could be fined if you do not tap it at all. The Nol readers are in all of the stations and there are plenty of them so don’t forget!

The Nol card reader will automatically deduct the correct amount for the fare from your Nol card.

    • admin

Hi, sorry my Spanish is not good enough to reply in Spanish too! For 10 days it depends on how many trips you will take – if you are only doing 10 trips or less then buy the red Nol card, if you are going to make more than 10 trips then it might be best to buy a Nol Silver card which you can top up with more credit if you need to. See Nol Cards for more info. The Nol cards do not cover the Palm Monorail though if you want to use that to get to Atlantis, and you will need to get a separate ticket for that. You can get more info on the Palm Monorail here.

HI, i have a Blue Nol card with 2 zones applicable for zone 2 and 6, so in this case can I use my NOL card here and there will be no deductions from Damac Properties metro transferred to Dubai Tram JBR station? Kindly advise

    THank you.

    • admin

Hi lily, I’m sorry I don’t totally understand your question. A blue Nol card entitles you to reduced fares as per the ticket prices shown on the tickets page (or free travel if you are disabled I believe). These fares will automatically be calculated at the reduced rate when you pass through the turnstiles.

    Hello
I want to go to Palm Gateway from DXB by metro and tram.
Going From Airport Terminal 1 to DAMAC is 3 zones.
I think It costs only the price for 3 zones with no additional pay for tram because DAMAC and all tram station is same zone.
i.e. I should pay only 5.80 AED for standard or 11.60 AED for gold class by Nol card.
    Is it correct?
    Best regards

    • admin

No, I think you may be looking at old prices. Price now for 3 zones on a silver Nol card is 7.50 dirhams, for gold travel is 15 dirhams.

    Hi,
I’ll travel in dubai with my wife for 7 nights and we will want take daily metro and tram. Which card may we buy please??? red card or silver card??? And how much that’s cost??? Thank you very much

    • admin

You should buy the silver card. You can top it up with credits for the amount required for your journeys. Check the tickets page for more info on this but generally each tram trip costs 3 dirhams.

    Hello,

Could you please advise how to go from Dubai marina to The Palm Jumeirah ? I mean im new to the city and my wife will have to make this trip to work everyday … Is it possible by Metro or bus and what are the prices ?
    Appreciate your feed back

It really depends whereabouts on the Palm she needs to get to. She could get the tram to the Palm Gateway and then get a taxi from there. I don’t actually know of any bus routes that go along the Palm. Maybe someone can advise if they know of any.

    Hello there,
I am a teacher at Raffles World Academy, Dubai. I am wanting to take our entire grade on an excursion on the Dubai Tram.

Could you please tell me if
    a) The tram could accomodate 175 students and 14 adults at one time? OR would we need to split the group into two groups.
    b) what the cost and travel time would be for a complete round trip per student (9-10 years old).
    C) Could the platform on Al Sufoh (Station 11) accomodate 175 students?

    • Max

      D) How long would a round trip take from Al Sufoh and returning to Al Sufoh?
      E) Would I need to purchase all of the tickets prior to boarding?

      • admin

The RTA don’t really have a system to pay for round trips unless you get off at one end and tap in and out and then go back – in that case you will be charged for two trips. But if you don’t tap in and out it is possible that you will be charged more as they don’t recognise a trip that starts and ends in the same place so you need to be careful. It takes around 40 minutes to go from one end to the other. You need a Nol card to pay for the trip.

Hi Max, although the tram can accommodate 405 passengers, obviously you will need to take account of how many other passengers there might be at the time you chose to travel, and how logistically easy it will be to get them all on the same tram!
Students can get a 50% discount on standard ticket prices but in order to avail of this they need to have a Blue Nol card which they need to apply for in advance and it may take 10 days for delivery. Otherwise they will need to have a standard Nol card which they can buy at the station.
Again you need to be careful on round trips as these are not accounted for by the RTA, you will need to touch in and out at the end station and effectively do a return trip so that you do not get charged too much. A standard ticket is 3 dirhams each way on a silver Nol card and 4 dirhams each way on a red nol card.

Hey, I am in Dubai for 2 days and I will purchase Dubai metro One day ticket – valid in all zone (cost AED 14.00) . Will this ticket be still valid for Dubai Tram or Al Sufouh Tram or Do i have to purchase a new separate ticket for Tram transportation ? I want to travel in Monorail, so i am travelling in metro and i will get down at “Dubai Marina station” from there i want to use tram to reach “Palm Jumeirah” to get accessible to Monorail.
Also, Which is the cheapest way to reach “Palm Jumeirah” from Metro stations – Tram or taxi or bus service..?

      • paul

        hi..

when you say one day ticket, can i use it all day without adding additional amount?
or its just the amount of the ticket and i have to pay another for metro bus and tram services thanks

        • admin

Basically the money is deducted for each trip but in one day the maximum that will be deducted is 20 dirhams (silver class) so you just need to have the money loaded on your Nol card.

Oh and this covers metro bus and tram.

I would like to go to Beach at JBR by Tram. it would be great for my children to get Tram as experience, also could avoid traffic at area. so where can i park my car to get tram? i think it would be good if we could have long trip to enjoy the tram.

    • admin

If you park at the Palm Gateway then you will get a good trip on the tram and that is the only big car park that is attached to any of the tram stations.

  • Dani

Hi, where can I purchase any of those cards?
Also, will I be able to use one card both for tram and metro or those are two separate entities?

    • admin

You can buy a Nol card at any of the stations or at supermarkets and some petrol stations. You use the same card for the Tram and the Metro.

  • AJ

I traveled just one stop on the tram last night – Dubai Marina to JBR Station 1 and was charged 5AED on a Silver NOL card…i don’t think this is right as it should have been 3AED only. Anyone else notice this or have the same?

  • dhillion

Love the firework display yesterday the view from my hotel. My question is I was excited to go have a trip on the tram today but to travel to The Walk from my hotel with my two children and my wife would cost me 8 dirhams on the tram where a taxi would cost me 10 dirhams and it’s door to door. From my hotel to the walk.

  • Evgeny

    Dear admission,
    1. If my child trips from knowledge village to Dubai marina jbr 2 one time a day, because of school, should we consider annual pass or we can use Null card as like for bus.
    2. Is there prepaid cards in payment methods?
    3. Does payment system collect payment from the card based on summary tram stops calculation (as a bus payment system)?
    4. Does it applicable to have any passes (annual passes) for school students? If yes, what documents should we submit?
    Thank you

    • admin

Payment system for the tram is exactly the same as for the bus and metro as it is all linked into Dubai public transport so you need to work out which Nol card is best for you (check the ticket prices page).

  • Bobbi

You’d have to be on the tram more than twice per day 5 days per week to make season tickets worthwhile. I’m not sure they got those rates quite right but good job other than that.

    • admin

You are right Bobbi, it seems like the season tickets are really going to be for those people who travel over multiple zones on the Metro too. If you just use the tram it’s not really worthwhile unless you are hopping on and off day and evening.

  • Gnanesh

Heartly Congratulations to Mr. Shaikh Mohammed Ruler of Dubai, for getting tram service in Dubai and who made Dubai at top in the world.

  • Patricia

I would like to know what do you considere 1zone.. 2zone…etc.. each station is 1 zone?
So if I start the travel in station 1 and I reach station 5, I have to pay +3 zones right??
    Thank you very much
