Dubai Tram Map

With Dubai Tram opening in November 2014, the first phase of the project covered 11 stations. The detailed RTA route map is shown further down below but here is a simplified version of the Dubai Tram map so that you can easily see the Dubai Tram stations that are operational and the directions that the trams will travel around the system.

Dubai Tram Route and Station Map

As of now there is just one route as shown below with 11 stations. There is one circular route that runs from Al Sufouh, round to JBR after passing through Dubai Marina and then back around past JLT and the Marina to end up back at Al Sufouh. There have been plans for a number of years to extend the tram but this has still not happened. It only takes a few minutes to get to each station.

Dubai Tram Map 2023

The tram goes in one direction around the JBR area, as the small loop route was discontinued due to under use a while ago.

So, for example, if you want to get from Dubai Marina Mall to JBR then you need to change at Dubai Marina.

When you catch the tram from the Al Sufouh end the signs may say that the tram goes to Jumeirah Lakes Towers, but it does not just stop there, it keeps going on around the whole route and returns to Al Sufouh.

The Dubai Tram route means that the trams themselves can travel in a complete loop from the Al Sufouh depot and back again so if you stay on them that is where you will end up!

As you can see from the Dubai Tram map, you can interchange with the Dubai Metro at Dubai Marina (for Sobha Realty station) and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (for DMCC station) and also with the Palm Monorail at Palm Jumeirah station. There is a short walk that also involves a lift to get from the tram to the metro/monorail.

Al Sufouh Tram Route Map

Above is the RTA route map for the Dubai Tram project. As you can see the tramway runs through Jumeirah Beach Residence for about one kilometre and has two stations in that area.

Location of the Route

The route goes from Al Sufouh and heads up to the elevated section that runs along the Sheikh Zayed Road side of the Dubai Marina section. The tram route here is an add on to the road that runs along the back of the marina and there are 3 stations along this part of the route. Two of those stations link up with the Dubai Metro at the Dubai Marina station and the Jumeirah Lake Towers station.

There are 6 further stations that run from the marina along Al Sufouh Road just past Knowledge Village and this is where the first phase of the Al Sufouh Tram route stops. There is then a depot in Al Sufouh. Station 9 links up with the Palm Monorail at the foot of the Palm Jumeirah. This is  good news for the Palm Monorail particularly as it may mean that more people are able to commute using public transport from the Palm (although the price of Palm Monorail tickets will likely have to come down at this point to make it feasible as a commuting option and this doesn’t seem likely to happen at any time in the near future).

Phase two of the Dubai Tram will also link up with the Dubai Metro station at Mall of the Emirates but there is no information currently as to when this will happen.

HELLO: Pretty lady. I am planing to go to Dubai for 4 days. Can you tell me which one is the best transportation the tram o the metro and also a decent price hotel and station where I can take with small distance. I have a special mobility problem. Thanks for help every one.

The tram and metro cover different areas of the city so it depends on where you want to go. There are a lot of hotels available – probably best to search on a hotel booking site where it shows location as it really depends on where you want to stay. The metro covers a lot of Dubai.

Hi. I’m staying in the Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach. Can you tell me hoe to get to Ravi’s restaurant using public transport? We have been to Dubai before and are familiar with the metro, but we have not used the tram system before.
    Thanks
    Denise

It looks like the nearest metro station is the World Trade Center so take the tram from JBR 1 then change for the metro at the marina and you can get off there.

  • Owen

Does the tram only go one direction? So, if I get on the tram at Jumeirah Lakes Towers and want to get of at JBR 2, I have to ride the entire loop around?

Hi I am coming to Dubai in march for 4 days. Looking to us public transport. Metro, tram, buses and boats to get around. Can you recommend a day pass or costs involved. Thank you

    • admin

You can get a day pass to travel on the majority of public transport for 20 dirhams a day so it really depends on how much you use it as to whether that is the best option. Check out the Tickets page for more info.

I am thinking of staying at the Ramada Downtown in August for 6 nights….is this a sound choice as a base to do a load of sight seeing as far as accessing transport to various sites?
Also what the easiest way to get to the closest tram/metro from there?
    Thx In Advance

The best thing is to type the hotel into Google maps and it will show you all the public transport options nearby. As there are hundreds (if not thousands!) of hotels in Dubai I am not aware of the exact location of all of them, sorry. The Ramada does look like it is near the Dubai Mall metro station although it may be more than a walk away depending on the weather. However, the trolley bus does go along that road so that might be an option to get to Dubai mall.

    Hi,
After visiting the Palm, we like to find a photo stop for Burj al Arab. Is Umm Suquiem beach a good location ? Would u have other suggestion ?
Can We take the tram from Oalm Jumeorah station to Al Sufouh station, then catch a taxi ? Any better way please ?
    Thank you.

Is the distance between Mall of the Emirates and Al Sufouh tram station vast, or could one walk from the tram stop? I know that the Metro stops at the Mall, but I’m currently staying in Knowledge Village, so it seems silly to go backwards & forwards?

    Hi ,
Can you please give me instructions on how to get from the Dubai mall or cruise port to the Atlantis aqua park, palm. Using the mono rail & tram.
    Regards Barry

You would need to take the Metro to the Marina, change there for the tram, take the tram to the Palm Gateway and get the monorail from there.

        Hello…
        I need some help…
I’m travelling with a small child, and was thinking of going to the Atlantis. Please advise me how to get there and back from Dubai Mall. I’m not sure I understand the tram system correctly- it seem to be running in one direction only, or am I getting it wrong? So, when getting back, I would need to travel by tram for 5 stations (not counting the Palm Jumeirah) to JLT and then change to the metro?
And how much time would it take me (one way) approximately?

        Thank you so much!

        Dragana

There is a small loop that travels in one direction but you only need to go to Dubai Marina stop to change to the Metro and at that point it goes in both directions.

Hello, im in Dubai for the first time. I would like to get to any public or paid beach by using metro+tram. Can you please recommend the easiest journey, i.e. which of the beaches is easy to reach from a tram stop? where to get off the tram to get to a beach? Im taking metro from Burjuman. Thanks.

I will be just for 1 day in Dubai and want t go from Termin3 to The Palm (NOL dayticket)
Best station to get to the Tram and Monorail is Dubai Marina?
Is there any Busservice to the Palm what is included in the NOL Ticket?
    Manfred

    • admin

You will need to get the metro to the marina like you say and then the tram to the Palm Gateway. NOL only includes metro bus and tram but not monorail.

    Hello,
I would like to go from Jumeirah Mosque to the Palm Monorail using the metro, tram and walking when necessary. Would you be able to tell me the most efficient route in which to accomplish this? I tried using the journey planner on the RTA website with no luck.

Thanks in advance for you assistance,
    Shara J.

    • admin

Sorry for the delay in replying. I believe you would be best to get the bus to the Palm Monorail as that would be the most direct route.

  • Mickey

    Hello there

Thanks for all the info on here. For someone who hasn’t ever been on the tram, could you point me in the right direction regarding getting to the Jumeirah Corniche? Specifically, I’m looking to get to the 14k running/jogging track. What station would I have to get off at?

    • admin

Hi Mickey, currently the tram does not go far enough to reach the corniche I’m afraid so you may have to go to the last tram stop and get a bus along beach road from there (or walk/jog!)

  • nitasha

I want to go to Marina Walk, WHich station I should get down at. Marina Mall or Dubai Marina ?
Also, will Dubai Metro card work in tram Or where Do I purchase the tickets ?

    • admin

You can get off at either, just depends which end of the walk you want to go to. Yes you use the same card for the metro and tram – the nol card.

Yes you can go to the Marina Mall it will just take you a bit longer one way than the other. Yes you can use the tram to get to the Metro.

  • Aziah Karim

I want to go to the jbr the walk. My questions..just need clarification.

    1. Coming from DG sharaf metro, I need to stop at JLT station, then change to tram to get to the walk?

    2. Is there a short loop for JBR walk area only without my having to go all the way to Alsufouh and back?

    TQ
