Tickets

The Dubai Tram tickets are the same that are available for the Dubai Metro. The price that you pay depends on how many zones you travel through. However, all of the tram stations in phase one are in the same zone (zone 2) so if you just make one journey on the tram, however far, you will only be charged 3 dirhams (if you are using a silver Nol card).

You can use your Nol card to pay for Dubai Tram tickets and other methods of public transport in Dubai like the bus and the Metro.

Children under 5 travel for free, otherwise they need to buy a Nol card and pay the fares below.

If you don’t have a Nol card you can get hold of one at any of the tram or Metro stations, bus stations or RTA offices and also at many other locations including supermarkets. Nol card is the only way to pay for travel.

There aren’t ticket offices at the tram stations, just ticket machines which tend to require the correct change if you are using cash. There are people to help at the tram stations though.

There are ticket machines at each of the stations and someone to help with purchases.

The price that you pay covers travel on the tram, metro and bus so you can travel on all of these and it just depends on how many zones you travel through.

Dubai Tram TicketsValidate Your Nol Card

You must remember to validate your Nol card by tapping it on one of the ticket readers. You need to tap in both on the way in and the way out – otherwise you will be charged the maximum price for a trip or you could be fined if you do not tap it at all. The Nol readers are in all of the stations and there are plenty of them so don’t forget!

The Nol card reader will automatically deduct the correct amount for the fare from your Nol card.

We are visiting soon and want to use the Train and the Trams. I see we need to buy Red Nol cards but do we need to buy 2 each for the 2 modes of transport or can the one card be used on both?

  • Navin

    Hi there,
We will be visiting in 2nd week of Dec 2016 and have been reading up public transit. We will be close to Station 2 of the tram. I am all confused about the tickets. Looks like the Silver NOL card is best for visitors. But what I am not clear is about how many cards are needed for a family of 4. Do we need one each, or can I use one card and tap it multiple times to pay for all 4 of us.
Is there any all day pass(and how much) that we could then use on Metro and Tram and just pay separately for the Palm monorail.

Not sure if you can advise what would be faster and convenient, hop on and hop off bus or using Dubai Tram and then Palm mono-rail to go to Atlantis and then back from there to Jumeirah beach. The Metro stations seem far from Jumeirah beach to walk. We wanted to avoid the hop on and hop off as they go around in their pre-defined loop routes and might not work if we want to go to specific places.

Sorry for the delay in replying. You will need to get a silver Nol card each yes you can buy a day ticket and then pay for the monorail separately. it is certainly much cheaper to use the tram and metro rather thant he hop-on and off bus.

    Dear Admin,
Need a bit clarification… Does red ticket [Daily Pass] costs AED 14 only for multiple journeys [like from Metro, Tram & RTA Buse for different stopss] during same day?

  • Mohammad

    Hi Admin,

i just need to ask about the ticket price, i am planning to stay in Dubai 8 days and i need to know the cheapest ticket of train, bus and metro during this period. i am not sure what distances i will cover because it is my first time to visit Dubai. I appreciate your advice to tell me which ticket I should buy and how much does it cost?
    Thanks.

    • admin

It depends how often you will use them but you could get a weekly ticket which will cover you on metro, bus and tram for 7 days then you could get a day ticket also. Check out the ticket page for prices.

I would like to buy the daily pass, should I buy Red Nol card?
Have I unlimited metro, tram, bus rides during that day?
Have I limited time when I change the train/tram/bus?
Should I “tap in” and “tap out” when I get on and get off train/tram/bus?

My wife and I will be visiting with our 8 year old twins for a fortnight from mid October. Her and I already have our own silver cards.
Do the children qualify for concessionary blue nols or do we need to buy them full adult price silver versions?

    • admin

I believe that you can get blue nol cards for the children on the basis that they are students but if you are just visiting it may be questionable whether it is worth it as you have to pay 70 AED for the blue nol which only includes 20AED in purse value. You will also need all the relevant documentation for the blue nol card. Otherwise yes you will need to get each of them a silver nol card.

Hi Admin, Would it charge me extra for tram if I take the metro from downtown to Marina and then tram to JBR or would it be the same as just taking the metro to Marina? Thanks!

    • admin

As all of the tram stops are in the same zone it should not in theory cost you any more. You will need to tap in and out between services and you should transfer within 30 minutes.

We are 2 ladies going to visit dubai and would like to know about the tram services..we are travellingon 8th unto 15th September. V will b covering atlantis, dubaimall, jumeirah beach, ski dubai, dragon mart. Burj khalifa…almost the major touristic places…kindly let us know how well can v use the service…

    • admin

It sounds like you will likely need to use different public transport services including Metro, taxi and Monorail as the tram only covers one destination that you have listed (jumeirah beach) – and even that depends on what part of jumeirah beach you were referring to!

    Hi,

Am traveling from shafeer mall to oud metha on daily basis using bus and metro. (To and fro) whether there is any pass which covers both bus and metro route.

    • admin

You can use your Nol card on both the bus and metro – if you are taking a lot of journeys each day then it may be worth getting a daily, weekly or monthly pass.

  • Usman

    Dear Admin,

I need to plan a comprehensive journey for my guests covering Ferry, Metro, Monorail and Tram. Can you please suggest a way how I can cover all these transportation modes in a day.

Like I will ride metro from Rashidiya to Ghubaiba, take Ferry from Ghubaiba to Marina. How I can ride monorail and tram during the same trip/day.

  • saty

Hi, Is 1 zone equal to1 station?
If I take the Tram at Dubai Marina & get off at Palm Jumeirah, how many zones will those be? Also I want to get on at Palm Jumeirah to go to Dubai Marina, will the view be better?
how much would be the total fare?

    • admin

All of the tram stations are currently in the same zone so you just need to check the ticket price for one zone depending on what card you use. I’m not sure what view you are after – the Palm Jumeirah tram station is at ground level so if you want a view of the palm you will need to go on the monorail.

  • Imaani

Hi we are visiting Dubai as tourists later this year and keen to take lots of pics, we are hoping to use the tram to get around The Marina and up to Media City, what ticket would best suit us for hop on hop off over a whole day please? We would like to get off on multiple stops to have a look around and then get back on to take us to the next stop.

    thanks
    Imaani

    • admin

It depends how many times you get on and off but it sounds like it would be best to get a day ticket which would cover you for the tram and the metro for 20 dirhams.

  • Susanne Gesell

Hallo, in october I will come to Dubai the second time. If ich by an “One day ticket – valid in all zones for 14.00 VAE at the metro, can ich drive with the Tram too? I will stay at the Oasis Beach Tower and I think, it is the easiest Way to drive in the Town.
With best regards and thanks vor help.

  • Saima

And would I be charged fare both of Metro and tram or just one fare, ( since its one zone) considering that I immediately change to tram and not be loitering around endlessly before I take the connection.

  • Saima

    Hello.
Just wanted to know if I am travelling from Ibn Batuta mall to Marina metro station, change to Tram and go to JBR station 1, then do I have to tap my silver NOL card both at “in and out” of Metro as well as the tram, or just “in” at Metro and out at JBR tram?

    • admin

No you just tap in when you get on at Ibn Battuta and then off when you get off at JBR, as long as you don’t actually stop for any length of time at Marina.

      • Ahmad

I tried this yesterday (from metro to tram) and I had to “tap out” from metro and then “tap in” at tram and again “tap out” when I got to JBR. The tram portion was free of charge since I went from metro to tram in less than half an hour, but I still had to tap in and out separately for metro and tram.

    Hi Admin,

I go thru all the post which i found to be very useful.

One thing I wanted to clarify that I have Silver Card, Can I recharge it with daily pass, how much it would cost me(14 or 20), Can I use it for the parking as well?

    Regards
    Ali

    • admin

Hi, you need to buy the daily pass separately, otherwise you will be charged for all trips you make if you use your silver card. you can use your silver Nol to pay for parking in most places.
