Marina Gearing Up for Al Sufouh Tram

So it has been a long time in the making (by Dubai standards anyway!), but the Al Sufouh Tram project will be up and running by next year. Initially it was set to open in 2011 but of course it was one of the major casualties of the economic downturn and progress on the project was slowed (and for a while halted) until the finances once again became available.

The trams themselves are being delivered in December this year (at least the first batch) and work is in progress not only on some of the stations but also on a significant amount of the track. The first phase will link the Marina with the Mall of the Emirates and will hopefully ease some of the major traffic woes that have been a bugbear of Jumeirah Beach Residence and the Marina for a few years now.
